Call For Artists

Annual Town & Country Amateur Exhibition

and

Blackhawk Park Exhibition

(both competitions held in conjunction) 
 
Exhibition:  Annual Town & Country Amatuer Exhibition & Blackhawk Park Exhibition (Judged competitions)
            Sponsored by:  Bicentennial Art Center & Museum
           
Dates of Exhibition:  February 24 to March 23, 2012
            After exhibit, pick up artwork on Tues. or Wed., March 27 or 28, 2012, 10am - 4pm.
 
Eligibility: Any person living in Edgar County or adjacent counties who is an amateur artist may exhibit in these shows. If you are unsure if you qualify as an amateur, please download the prospectus for more information. For both exhibitions, a Youth Division includes 10-17 years of age, and an Adult Division for 18 years and older. All works accepted for exhibition must remain for the entire show.
 
Number of Entries:  Up to three entries can be entered.  Only entries selected for the exhibition by the judge will be exhibited. The Show Committee reserves the right to reject any entry.
 
Size of Entries:  2-D artwork cannot exceed 42" wide, including frame.
 
Requirements:

            All visual art media are accepted for the Town & Country Amateur Exhibition, including paintings, drawings, printmaking, crafts, sculpture, photography, and mixed media. Universal clips or sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.

For the Blackhawk Park Exhibition the following media are eligible: drawings, paintings, and photography; however, please note that the subject matter of all entries for the Blackhawk Park Exhibition must pertain to Blackhawk Park. All 2-dimensional artwork must be framed with a hanging wire attached to the back of the frame for hanging. Universal clips or sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.

 
Insurance: All works are insured while on exhibition at the Art Center. Artists are encouraged, however, to maintain their own insurance on their works during shipping and/or while on exhibition. The Art Center is not responsible for any damages from shipping of works.
 
Awards:  The exhibit will be judged and ribbons awarded. Blue Ribbon winners will be eligible to exhibit in the State Town & Country Exhibition, which is sponsored by the Champaign County Park District.

16th Annual Paint Illinois
 
Exhibition: 16th Annual Paint Illinois (Juried and Judged competition)
    Sponsored by:  Bicentennial Art Center & Museum
   
Dates of Exhibition:   May 11 - June 8, 2012
 
Theme:  Artists are asked to interpret the people, landscape and/or sights of Illinois.
 
Eligibility:  All artists, 18 years of age and over, residing in the state of Illinois may enter this show. Entries must be original and created within the last three years, and must be the work of the person in whose name it is submitted. All works accepted for exhibition must remain for the entire show.
 
Medium:  All media, including mixed media projects, are eligible to be entered, except photography and 3-D.  Work submitted must be safe to handle, install, and view.
 
Number of Entries:  Up to three entries can be entered.  Only entries selected for the exhibition by the judge will be exhibited. The Show Committee reserves the right to reject any entry.
 
Size of Entries:  Cannot exceed 42" wide, including frame.
 
Requirements:  All entries must be framed and WIRED TO HANG, and do not exceed 42" in width.  Only works selected by the juror will be exhibited.
 
Insurance:  All works are insured while on exhibition at the Art Center. Artists are encouraged, however, to maintain their own insurance on their works during shipping and/or while on exhibition. The Art Center is not responsible for any damages from shipping of works.
 
Awards: One Best of Show Award of $250 and Four Merit Awards of $100 each. Ribbons will be given to those who receive an Honorable Mention Award.   All awards are given at the discretion of the judge.

Annual Midwest Photography Show

Exhibition:  Annual Midwest Photography Show (Juried and Judged competition) The Judge for this year's competition is yet to be determined.
            Sponsored by:  Bicentennial Art Center & Museum
 
Dates:  July 29 - August 26, 2011
 
Eligibility:  Any photographer residing in the Illinois and Indiana area may enter this show. A Youth Division includes 10-17 years of age, and an Adult Division for 18 years and older. All works accepted for exhibition must remain for the entire show.
 
Medium:  Photographs:  Black and white - Color - Computer enhanced (including digital)
 
        Adult Division (18 years and older) Awards
                  First Place: $100
                  Second Place: $75
                  Honorable Mentions will receive a ribbon award
 
        Youth Division (10 - 17 years of age) Awards
                  First Place: $50
                  Second Place: $25
                  Honorable Mentions will receive a ribbon award

Requirements:  All photographs must be suitably framed and wired for hanging. Photographs framed with sawtooth hangers or Universal clips will not be accepted. *Also, please note that any photographs previously exhibited at the Art Center are not eligible to be entered.*

58th Annual Fall Show
 
Exhibition:  58th Annual Fall Show (Juried and Judged competition)
            Sponsored by:  Bicentennial Art Center & Museum
            Awards underwritten by area businesses and individuals
 
Dates of Exhibition:  October 5 to November 9, 2012
 
Theme:  The longest running exhibition sponsored by the Bicentennial Art Center & Museum.
The Fall Show showcases the work of all artists residing within a 100-mile radius of Paris, Illinois.
 
Eligibility:  All artists, 18 years of age and over, residing within a 100-mile radius of Paris, Illinois may enter this show.
    Entries previously exhibited at the Bicentennial Art Center are not eligible.
    All entries must be original, and completed within the last three years by the person in whose name it is submitted.
    All works accepted for exhibition must remain for the entire show.
 
Medium:  All 2-D and 3-D media except photography.  Work submitted must be safe to handle, install, and view.
 
Number of Entries:  Up to three entries can be entered.  Only entries selected for the exhibition by the judge will be exhibited. The Show Committee reserves the right to reject any entry.
 
Size of Entries:  Cannot exceed 42" wide, including frame.
 
Requirements:  All 2-D work must be suitably framed and wired for hanging with the Center's installation system.  A limited number of pedestals are available for 3-D work.  Floor space is also available for freestanding pieces.
 
Insurance:  All works are insured while on exhibition at the Art Center. Artists are encouraged, however, to maintain their own insurance on their works during shipping and/or while on exhibition. The Art Center is not responsible for any damages from shipping of works.
 
Awards:  One Best of Show Award $250 and Merit Awards $100 each.  All awards are given at the discretion of the judge.
